ROB Fleming has always been a talented goalkeeper, and this season he is aiming to reach superhuman heights on the pitch.
The Avalon Amateur League division one shot stopper is donning a Superman inspired kit each Saturday afternoon, but it is not driven by ego.
In fact, quite the opposite – he is raising money for Bear Cottage.
“I wanted to give something back to the community, and one day the idea popped into my head,” he said.
“It is a cause which I am passionate about, some of those kids are really doing it tough.”
Fleming has worn his flashy kit in games against Mosman, Harbord Seasiders United and Pittwater A so far – and he was quick to add it has been well received by opponents.
“I expected a few cheeky comments, but I guess people can see I am raising money for a worthwhile cause,” he said.
“In fact, the three clubs so far have all chipped in money at fulltime, which was fantastic.”
The 32-year-old won’t be in action this weekend with Avalon having the bye, but he has no plans to wear a traditional kit in 2016.
You can next see ‘Superman’ in the flesh at Narrabeen Sports High on Saturday, May 7.
